Baptist Health Community Outreach, Arkansas Foodbank Partner to Launch ‘Food Is Medicine’ Mobile Health Screenings

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Baptist Health Community Outreach, in partnership with the Arkansas Foodbank, is proud to announce the "Food Is Medicine" initiative, providing free health screenings and education to residents across several Arkansas communities.

The program utilizes the Baptist Health Mobile Health Unit to meet Arkansas residents where they are, offering vital health services directly at local food pantries. This initiative aims to bridge the gap between nutrition and clinical care by providing "Food Rx" resources and immediate health insights. 

All screenings are free and available to the public with no appointment needed. Visitors to the mobile health unit can receive blood pressure checks, blood sugar (glucose) testing, health resources and education. 

The mobile health unit will be available at the following locations and times:

  • McGehee Community Food Pantry
    • Address: 112 N First St., McGehee
    • Time: 2nd Tuesdays of the month, 1-3 p.m.
    • Dates: March 10, April 14, May 12, June 9
  • Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church
    • Address: 510 North Walnut St., Warren
    • Time: 2nd Tuesdays of the month, 9-11 a.m.
    • Dates: March 10, April 14, May 12, June 9
  • Delta Dream Food Pantry
    • Address: 305 Hwy. 1 North, Marianna
    • Time: 3rd Wednesdays of the month, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
    • Dates: March 18, April 15, May 20, June 17
  • Victors’ Empowerment Center
    • Address: 805 N Grand St., Stuttgart
    • Time: 2nd Fridays of the month, 8-10 a.m.
    • Dates: March 13, April 10, May 8, June 12
